About StocksKorea and how our data works
StocksKorea is a free English-language reference for companies listed on the Korean stock market (KOSPI and KOSDAQ). For each company it shows what the business does, up to ten years of financials in US$, the share price, and the company's official filings explained in plain English. It is information only, not investment advice.
Where the data comes from
- Filings and financial statements: DART (dart.fss.or.kr), Korea's official corporate disclosure system. Every filing page links to the original on DART.
- Share prices, market capitalisation, trading status and the USD/KRW rate: KRX (Korea Exchange), collected through the open-source FinanceDataReader library.
- StocksKorea is independent. It is not affiliated with DART, the Financial Supervisory Service or KRX.
How often it updates
- New filings are collected about every five minutes during Korean daytime hours (08:00 to 21:00 KST).
- Share prices, market capitalisation, trading status and the exchange rate refresh once a day after the market closes.
- Annual financials are added after each company files its annual report.
- Every page shows the date its figures are based on.
How amounts are shown in US$
Korean filings report in won. Every amount here is converted to US$. Prices, market capitalisation and financial statements use the latest USD/KRW close; at the time of writing that is 1 USD ≈ ₩1,325 (2026-10-21). Amounts taken from a specific filing use the rate of the filing date and the page says so. The won rate is shown only as the basis of the conversion. For scale, ₩2 trillion is about US$1.5B.
Which financial statements
Revenue, operating profit and net income come from the full-year annual report on DART. Where a company publishes consolidated statements, those are used; otherwise the company's separate statements. The figures are mapped directly from DART and never pass through AI. A figure that DART does not report stays empty rather than being estimated. Fiscal years follow the company's own calendar; most Korean listed companies end theirs on December 31.
What is written by AI and what is not
- AI-written: the short description of what a company does and some English summaries of filings. They are generated from the company's own filings, labelled as AI-generated, and can contain errors.
- Not AI: all financial figures, the key amounts in decoded deal filings (buybacks, share issues, contracts and similar), which are read from the filing by fixed rules, the English titles of filings, which come from a fixed dictionary, and the plain-English explanation of each filing type.
How companies are grouped
Companies are placed in eleven sectors that follow the GICS sector scheme, and in subsectors within them, using their Korean industry classification. The "large-cap" label on this site means a market capitalisation of at least ₩2 trillion; everything else is labelled small-cap. This is the site's own grouping and not an exchange definition.
What this site does not do
- It does not give investment advice, ratings, price targets, rankings or buy and sell recommendations.
- It does not partner with or recommend any broker, fund or security.
- It does not guarantee that data is complete or current; check the original filing on DART before relying on a figure.
