Lotte Energy Materials makes electrolytic copper foil, an ultra-thin sheet of copper produced by electrochemically breaking down a copper-sulphate solution, used as a core component inside rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles and energy-storage systems, as well as inside circuit boards for AI accelerators, televisions, computers, and smartphones.

The company supplies this material, branded Elecfoil, to manufacturers across the battery and electronics industries, and is listed on KOSPI, South Korea's main stock exchange. Its materials segment is the dominant part of the business, with a construction division, specialising in curtain-wall exterior cladding for tall buildings, operating alongside it.
