NICE is a holding company, a firm that owns stakes in subsidiaries and earns income from their dividends and brand-licensing fees rather than from direct operations, listed on KOSPI, Korea's main stock exchange.

Its subsidiaries collectively cover a broad range of financial-infrastructure services, including personal and corporate credit information, ATM network management and outsourcing for banks, credit-card transaction processing, corporate bond credit ratings, and asset management. The single most important structural fact is that NICE itself generates revenue almost entirely from dividends and trademark royalties paid up by its more than forty subsidiaries.
